Summary: The QA Automation Test Engineer role involves designing, building, and executing Selenium-based load-testing scripts to validate PowerBI Fabric's performance, scalability, and reliability. The position requires the automation of test scenarios and modeling user behavior at scale, ensuring optimal performance under various usage conditions. The role is primarily remote with occasional in-person workshops in London. Candidates must have SC clearance eligibility and experience in the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop Selenium WebDriver scripts and test cases simulating high-level user interactions across PowerBI Fabric experiences.
  • Build scalable automation flows that mimic report and dataset opening, navigation actions, and refresh events.
  • Create parameterized and data-driven scripts to vary user patterns, concurrency levels, and execution timing.
  • Develop a regression test script pack.
  • Design and execute load, stress, and endurance tests targeting PowerBI Fabric capacity limits.
  • Capture metrics such as response times, resource consumption, and capacity exhaustion behavior.
  • Integrate Selenium tests with performance-oriented tools like JMeter.
  • Configure distributed/parallel Selenium execution.
  • Ensure automation runs effectively at scale across multiple browsers and sessions.

Key Skills:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Selenium WebDriver and UI automation frameworks.
  • Proven experience designing and executing load, stress, and scalability tests.
  • Proficiency in one or more automation languages (Python, Java).
  • Knowledge of distributed workload execution, multi-threading, and parallelization concepts.
  • REST API testing and validation.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft PowerBI, Fabric workloads, or similar analytical tools.

Duration: contract to run until 30/09/2026

Location: Mainly remote odd day in London for workshops

Rate: up to £483 p/d Umbrella inside IR35

Clearance required: SC eligible, 5 years in the UK and less that 28 days outside of the UK

Role purpose / summary

Skilled QA automation Engineer to design, build and execute selenium-based load-testing scripts to validate PowerBI Fabric capacity and Visualisation performance, scalability, and reliability and develop regression test scripts. The role involves modelling user behaviour at scale, automating test scenarios, and ensuring Fabric-backed workloads perform optimally under expected and peak usage conditions.
