Summary: The role of a Qualified Social Worker involves joining Manchester City Council's Adult Community Team to conduct assessments and develop support plans for adults in the community. Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct strengths-based assessments to determine support needs and promote independence for adults in the community
  • Collaborate with third-sector organisations, reablement teams, and commissioned services to develop tailored support plans
  • Apply legislation such as the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and other relevant frameworks to ensure lawful and ethical practice
  • Work independently to manage a diverse caseload, using sound judgement and evidence-based approaches
  • Demonstrate clear and effective communication with service users, families, and multi-agency partners
  • Contribute to building stronger, more resilient communities through inclusive and proactive social work practice

Key Skills:

  • Registration with Social Work England
  • Enhanced DBS clearance
  • Degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification
  • Experience in assessing and identifying the care and support needs of adults from a variety of backgrounds
  • Confident in coordinating community-based resources to empower individuals and prevent escalation of need
  • In-depth understanding of relevant legislation and statutory responsibilities related to Adult Social Care
  • Able to work autonomously while maintaining high standards of practice and professional accountability
  • Skilled in relationship-building, negotiation, and advocacy to ensure positive outcomes for service users
  • Passionate about enabling independence and fostering inclusion through person-centred interventions
