Summary: The QTS Tutor/Teacher role focuses on providing specialized support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a home-based setting. The position involves developing tailored lesson plans in subjects such as English, Maths, Science, and Art, while fostering a positive learning environment. The role is long-term, extending until July 2025, with the potential to assist students through their GCSEs. Ideal candidates will possess Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience working with SEN students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build strong rapport with students, creating a calm and positive learning environment.
- Develop and deliver engaging, differentiated lesson plans tailored to individual learning needs.
- Support students in subjects such as English, Maths, Science, and Art, including GCSE preparation.
- Work collaboratively with schools and other stakeholders to track and report on student progress.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP).
- De-escalate challenging situations with professionalism and empathy.
- Facilitate the student’s re-engagement with formal education.
Key Skills:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Experience working with SEN students across Key Stages (11 years old to Further Education).
- Confidence in delivering lessons both face-to-face and online.
- Passion for supporting young people with diverse needs, including patience and adaptability.
- Ability to teach core subjects, particularly Science, English, and Maths, with some experience in Art.
