The role
Reporting to the Foundation Quality Manager, you will lead and support site inspectors across three monopile fabrication and load-out locations.
You will provide technical fabrication quality guidance to the site teams, support implementation of the Project Quality Plan and Fabrication Quality Plan, and ensure the contractor’s activities comply with project specifications, contractual requirements and applicable offshore standards.
Key responsibilities
- Lead QA/QC activities across three monopile fabrication and load-out facilities.
- Provide technical guidance and support to site inspectors and the wider foundation package team.
- Monitor contractor and subcontractor fabrication activities.
- Perform surveillance and witness inspections covering fit-up, dimensional control, welding, NDT, coating and material traceability.
- Review ITPs, welding procedures, NDT procedures, inspection documentation and fabrication records.
- Verify fabrication drawings against design drawings during product inspection.
- Monitor welder qualifications, WPS compliance, welding equipment, consumables and material traceability.
- Participate in quality walks, inspection look-aheads, readiness reviews, NCR reviews and site quality meetings.
- Identify, document and follow up non-conformities, technical deviations, defects and punch-list items.
- Support joint walkdowns, final inspections and pre-load-out quality activities.
- Carry out quality audits and quality-gate reviews.
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly fabrication quality reports.
- Record inspection and surveillance activities using LetsBuild/Aproplan.
- Support the review of final as-built fabrication records and lessons learned.
Essential experience
- Extensive experience in a client-side Lead Inspector, QA/QC Lead or supervisory quality position.
- Strong fabrication quality experience involving large offshore structures or substructures.
- Previous offshore wind experience covering monopiles, transition pieces, jackets or offshore substations.
- Proven technical knowledge of welding, NDT and protective coating processes.
- Experience working to NORSOK and other applicable offshore fabrication standards.
- Experience reviewing fabrication drawings, ITPs, WPS documentation and inspection procedures.
- Quality auditing experience and an appropriate auditing qualification.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to guide inspectors and positively influence contractors.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Willingness and ability to travel between the UK, Spain and Germany as required.
Relevant qualifications
- Candidates should hold, or have previously held, relevant qualifications such as: CSWIP Welding Inspector or equivalent.
- CSWIP, FROSIO or equivalent coating inspection certification.
- PCN or equivalent NDT certification covering methods such as UT, MPI, DPI or radiography.
