QA Engineer - Inside IR35

About the Role

We are seeking experienced QA Engineers to join a major financial services transformation programme based in London. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of critical applications and data engineering solutions supporting a global financial markets infrastructure.

Working within Agile delivery teams, you will design and execute manual and automated testing, validate complex financial data, and contribute to improving software quality across the SDLC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, review, and execute manual and automated test cases covering functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Validate financial calculations, transaction processing, reporting, and compliance-related functionality.
  • Perform data validation across ETL pipelines, databases, data lakes, and reporting layers.
  • Execute performance and load testing using approved tools.
  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts.
  • Identify, log, track, and manage defects through to resolution.
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts, Developers, Product Owners, and stakeholders to ensure quality throughout the delivery life cycle.
  • Produce and maintain test documentation and knowledge repositories.
  • Ensure testing supports regulatory and compliance requirements, including GDPR and SOX where applicable.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience designing and executing manual and automated test cases.
  • Experience testing financial applications, transaction flows, compliance logic, and reporting.
  • Strong SQL skills for validating data across databases and ETL processes.
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric workspaces and notebooks.
  • Experience validating data within relational and NoSQL databases, including Cosmos DB.
  • Experience validating data in Azure Data Lakes/Lakehouse environments.
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum teams and CI/CD delivery pipelines.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Formal QA certification.

Working Arrangement

  • Hybrid working (1-3 days per week in the London office).
  • Occasional travel between London office locations may be required.
