Role summary
Responsible for defining and executing quality strategy across the software lifecycle, and for building the automated systems that detect defects continuously and reliably.
Scope of the role
Owns the test strategy for a defined product area, including automation coverage, exploratory scope, and documented risk acceptance.
Develops and maintains automated test suites integrated into CI, prioritising stability and signal quality over raw coverage metrics.
Conducts systematic negative and boundary testing across edge cases, malformed inputs, degraded network conditions, and varied device configurations.
Produces reproducible, well-evidenced defect reports with sufficient diagnostic context for efficient resolution.
Provides objective release readiness assessments, articulating tested coverage, known gaps, and residual risk.
Requirements
Demonstrated depth in both automated and exploratory testing, with clear rationale for applying each.
Hands-on experience with modern automation frameworks and CI/CD integration.
Proficiency in API and service-level testing (Postman, REST clients, contract testing) and scripting in Python, JavaScript, or equivalent.
Familiarity with defect management and test case tooling, and with performance and load testing principles.
Exposure to validating AI/ML-driven functionality, non-deterministic output, evaluation datasets, and regression detection is advantageous.
