Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing and improving scripts and stored procedures that underpin Front Office workflows.
  • Refactoring and consolidating existing codebases in Python to make them easier to maintain and extend.
  • Enhancing the capacity and scalability of the platform as data volumes and usage grow.
  • Using GenAI tools to automate parts of the development life cycle, including code generation.
  • Working with Front Office stakeholders and technology teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical changes.
  • Supporting data mapping and lineage activities to keep data flows transparent and traceable.

Key Skills:

  • Strong programming experience in Python and/or Java, with additional Scripting skills such as Perl.
  • Background working with large datasets in a production or financial environment, including skills in data mapping, data lineage and/or data architecture.
  • Experience working closely with business stakeholders and technology teams to gather and refine requirements.
  • Track record of delivering code changes and automation in a structured environment.
  • Familiarity with GenAI tools such as Copilot, Claude or similar, or a clear interest in gaining this experience.
  • Unix Shell Scripting, Perl, and scheduling software like Autosys.

Are you a Python developer that enjoys modernising and optimising Legacy code and using generative AI tools to automate repetitive workflows?

We are working with a large Bank in Glasgow who are looking for a Python Developer to join their team. The work will be Hybrid, working 3 days onsite in the office.
As a Python Developer, you'll work on an internal platform used by Front Office users, focusing on data mapping, data lineage and automation. They are looking to modernise, consolidate and simplify existing scripts and services so the platform can handle increasing demand. You'll also help introduce and expand the use of GenAI tools to speed up development and reduce manual effort.

What you'll be doing
