Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a scraper tool to extract data from various structured and unstructured sources.
- Work independently on defined project scopes while solving problems effectively.
- Engage with stakeholders and hold technical conversations in meetings.
- Utilize web scraping techniques and tools to gather data.
- Implement modern cloud-based data architectures, particularly on Databricks and Azure.
- Manage source code using Azure DevOps or Git.
- Participate in Agile delivery methodologies such as SCRUM or Kanban.
- Utilize work management tools like JIRA and Confluence.
Key Skills:
- Professional experience as a Python developer in a software engineering context.
- Strong knowledge of web scraping techniques and tools (e.g. BeautifulSoup, Requests, Selenium, or Scrapy).
- Understanding of website structures and data extraction methods.
- Knowledge of modern cloud-based data architectures, including Data Lakehouse on Databricks.
- Experience with Databricks and Azure is highly desirable.
- Source code management experience (e.g. Azure DevOps, Git).
- Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies such as SCRUM or Kanban.
- Experience with knowledge and work management tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence).
- Experience building tools or reports in data-focused trading or reporting environments (nice to have).

Our client is a leading global cross asset management house, recently they have had a wider transformation initiative with their Japanese office and are launching several projects to streamline data access and automation. One of the key projects involves the development of a scraper tool that extracts the data from various sources some structured and some unstructured sources such as API's, PDF, Excel, HTML, CSV etc. In order to build this they are looking for a seasoned Python Engineer who has a good understanding of data engineering as well to help build this from scratch. You will be joining a small team with clearly defined scopes of what needs to be done, however you will need to be confident within problem solving and being comfortable independently owning parts of the project. In addition to this there will be involvement with the stakeholders across the business so being able to confidently hold technical conversations in meetings is essential.
Requirements:
- Professional experience as a Python developer in a software engineering context
