Summary: A global financial services firm is looking for an experienced Python Database Engineer to enhance their data infrastructure by building a scalable OLTP platform using SQL architecture. Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deploy secure, compliant infrastructure in an internal cloud environment.
- Contribute to the architecture, development, and roll-out of a SQL platform in a DBaaS model.
- Collaborate closely with InfoSec to integrate required access and compliance controls.
- Drive automation of infrastructure and containerised services (Kubernetes).
- Benchmark and run proof-of-concept evaluations of database technologies.
- Document and optimise operational processes around the PostgreSQL platform.
- Deliver production-ready solutions using modern CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code practices.
Key Skills:
- Strong Python development skills (must-have).
- Advanced knowledge of PostgreSQL and ANSI SQL.
- Deep understanding of Kubernetes for container orchestration and managing stateful services.
- Proficiency in Linux systems and Shell Scripting.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform, Helm, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Proven experience with building or supporting high availability, mission-critical systems.
- Strong grasp of authentication and security concepts (OAuth, SAML, OpenID, SCIM, Kerberos).
- Familiarity with monitoring tools, agent-based architectures, alerting, and dashboard creation.
- Experience working in Agile and DevOps-oriented teams.
