Purchasing Officer

Summary: The Purchasing Officer role involves providing comprehensive procurement services, including strategic sourcing and purchasing of goods and services to meet established standards. The position requires extensive experience in procurement within a large engineering-focused organization, emphasizing supplier evaluation and contract management. The officer will also be responsible for ensuring data accuracy in procurement systems and providing training to users. Strong communication and negotiation skills are essential for developing relationships with stakeholders and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and verify shopping carts for accuracy in the acquisition of goods and services.
• Review robotic generated purchase orders for accuracy before release.
• Solicit bids and prepare recommendations for the acquisition of goods and services.
• Identify and establish preferred and pre-qualified suppliers.
• Purchase goods and services ensuring value for money principles are applied.
• Negotiate product savings with suppliers and investigate process improvements.
• Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers to resolve delivery issues.
• Ensure data accuracy in SRM e-procurement and SAP MM Systems.
• Provide education and training on SRM e-Procurement and SAP MM.

Key Skills:

• Considerable procurement experience in a large multi-disciplined engineering organization.
• Experience in supplier and product evaluation specifically for goods procurement.
• Relevant experience with computer-based procurement systems.
