Summary: The role of Public Health Consultant within Adults, Health and Housing involves leading initiatives to improve health and social outcomes for various client groups while ensuring the delivery of mandated public health services. The consultant will act as a change agent, working collaboratively with partners to address health determinants and reduce inequalities. The position requires expertise in public health competencies and the ability to manage staff and budgets effectively. This is a 6-month contract with on-site presence required one day per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on improving health and social outcomes for specific client groups.
  • Develop and maintain systems for responding to major health incidents.
  • Ensure delivery of mandated public health services.
  • Influence partnership boards to maximize health improvement opportunities.
  • Manage staff and oversee recruitment, appraisals, and budgets.
  • Develop and implement public health policies.
  • Provide briefings on community health needs to relevant stakeholders.
  • Offer expert public health support for high-quality service commissioning.

Key Skills:

  • Minimum CPD requirements in accordance with Faculty of Public Health.
  • Inclusion in GMC Full and Specialist Register or UK Public Health Register.
  • Ability to influence senior members including directors and CEOs.
  • Experience in leading teams and contributing to junior-led teams.
  • Successful delivery of change management programmes.
  • Media experience in health behaviour or promotion messaging.
