Summary: The Project Procurement Lead will manage procurement operations for large-scale investment projects in the pharmaceutical/biotech sector, overseeing the procurement of goods and services during the construction of facilities. This strategic role requires extensive experience in procurement for CAPEX projects and involves collaboration with various internal and external stakeholders. The position is based in Slough initially, transitioning to Reading as the project progresses. The contract is for 12 months with a competitive daily rate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Procurement Execution Strategies for assigned CAPEX projects.
- Lead procurement and contract management activities for goods such as process equipment, lab supplies, utilities systems, and automation components.
- Oversee procurement of services including construction, HVAC, electrical, cleanroom fit-out, and engineering consultancy.
- Maintain and manage the Procurement Master Plan (PMP), ensuring effective tracking, risk identification, and reporting.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams (engineering, quality, finance, legal) and external partners (suppliers, EPCM/EPC firms).
Key Skills:
- 10 years’ experience in procurement for large CAPEX projects, ideally in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.
- Proven background in plant/facility construction procurement.
- Strong commercial acumen and contract management expertise.
- Fluent in English; German language skills a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in matrix and cross-functional environments.
- Engineering or technical background (Process, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical) is advantageous.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Project Procurement Lead to oversee procurement operations for large-scale investment projects, valued between £5 million and £500 million, within the pharmaceutical/biotech sector. The role involves end-to-end commercial ownership of goods and services procurement during the construction of manufacturing, laboratory, and office facilities.
This is a strategic and hands-on position that will play a crucial role in project delivery at our Slough site, transitioning to Reading as the project evolves.
