Summary: The role is for a temporary Project Manager/Senior Building Surveyor focused on overseeing a housing refurbishment programme for the Ministry of Defence (MOD) in Scotland. The position requires ensuring that external contractors deliver high-quality workmanship on time and in compliance with project specifications. The contract is initially for 3-6 months, with the possibility of extension. The role involves significant site visits and collaboration with various stakeholders to maintain project standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and inspect refurbishment works across MOD housing sites, eg full internal strip out and re-build.
- Ensure all works meet required standards, specifications, and health & safety regulations.
- Ensure milestones are met.
- Carry out detailed snagging inspections and report findings.
- Briefing contractors.
- Liaise with contractors, project managers, and stakeholders to resolve issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections and progress.
Key Skills:
- Strong background in a building trade, eg joinery or bricklaying, with proven Social Housing Maintenance experience.
- Delivering a programme of housing maintenance via contractors.
- Excellent eye for detail and ability to identify defects.
- Knowledge of building regulations and quality standards.
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple sites.
- SMSTS is essential.
