Summary: The role of Contract Project Manager focuses on leading the upgrade of Oracle E-business Suite from Release 11 to Release 12.2 in a hybrid working environment based in South Wales. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in managing complex Oracle EBS upgrades and will be responsible for program governance, stakeholder engagement, and vendor management. This position requires a hands-on approach to ensure successful delivery from initiation through to post-implementation support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own end-to-end delivery of the Oracle E-business Suite R11 to R12.2 upgrade programme
- Define and manage the overall project plan, milestones, dependencies, risks, and critical path
- Ensure alignment between business objectives, technical delivery, and Oracle best practices
- Maintain control of scope, budget, timelines, and quality standards
- Lead all phases of the upgrade life cycle, including discovery, customisation, technical activities, testing, cutover, and support
- Manage R12.2-specific complexities, including online patching and custom code remediation
- Ensure robust governance around data migration, security, and compliance
- Act as the primary point of accountability for senior stakeholders and Oracle partners
- Manage system integrators, vendors, and third-party suppliers
- Proactively identify and manage risks specific to Oracle EBS upgrades
- Establish and maintain strong project governance and controls
- Produce concise, executive-level status reports
Key Skills:
- Demonstrable experience leading at least two Oracle E-business Suite upgrades from R11 to R12.2
- Strong understanding of Oracle EBS architecture and functional modules
- Proven delivery experience across ERP domains such as Finance, Supply Chain, HR, or Manufacturing
- Experience managing large system integrators and Oracle partners
- Expert project management capability (Waterfall/Hybrid; Agile awareness desirable)
- Clear, confident communicator with technical and non-technical audiences
- PRINCE2 Practitioner, PMP, or equivalent qualifications

Role Overview
The client is undertaking a major enterprise upgrade of Oracle E-business Suite from Release 11 to Release 12.2 and are seeking an experienced Contract Project Manager to lead delivery from initiation through go-live and post-implementation stabilisation.
This role requires proven, hands-on delivery experience of multiple Oracle EBS R11 - R12.2 upgrades within complex enterprise environments. It is a specialist role for a project manager with deep Oracle EBS upgrade experience.
You will be accountable for programme governance, technical delivery oversight, stakeholder engagement, and vendor management across a multi-partner environment.
Key Responsibilities
Programme & Project Leadership
- Own end-to-end delivery of the Oracle E-business Suite R11 to R12.2 upgrade programme
- Define and manage the overall project plan, milestones, dependencies, risks, and critical path
- Ensure alignment between business objectives, technical delivery, and Oracle best practices
- Maintain control of scope, budget, timelines, and quality standards
Oracle EBS Upgrade Delivery
- Lead all phases of the upgrade life cycle, including:
- Discovery and impact assessment
- Customisation and retrofit analysis
- Technical and functional upgrade activities
- Testing strategy and execution (SIT, UAT, performance, regression)
- Cutover planning and execution
- Go-live and post-go-live support
- Manage R12.2-specific complexities, including:
- Online Patching (ADOP)
- Custom code remediation
- Integration and interface upgrades
- Reporting and BI impacts
- Ensure robust governance around data migration, security, and compliance
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Act as the primary point of accountability for senior business stakeholders, IT leadership, and Oracle partners
- Manage system integrators, Oracle vendors, and third-party suppliers
- Translate technical risks and issues into clear business impacts and decisions
- Chair project boards, steering committees, and working groups
Risk, Issue & Change Management
- Proactively identify and manage risks specific to Oracle EBS upgrades
- Own RAID logs and escalation processes
- Control scope and change to protect delivery outcomes
- Apply lessons learned throughout the programme life cycle
Governance & Reporting
- Establish and maintain strong project governance and controls
- Produce concise, executive-level status reports
- Ensure compliance with internal delivery frameworks and audit requirements
Essential Skills & Experience
Mandatory Experience
- Demonstrable experience leading at least two Oracle E-business Suite upgrades from R11 to R12.2
- Strong understanding of Oracle EBS architecture, functional modules, and technical components
- Proven delivery experience across ERP domains such as Finance, Supply Chain, HR, or Manufacturing
- Experience managing large system integrators and Oracle partners
- Hands-on experience running testing phases and test execution
- Track record of delivering high-risk, business-critical ERP programmes
Project & Leadership Skills
- Expert project management capability (Waterfall/Hybrid; Agile awareness desirable)
- Strong stakeholder management at both executive and operational levels
- Confident decision-maker with excellent problem-solving skills

Desirable Qualifications
- PRINCE2 Practitioner, PMP, or equivalent
- Oracle E-business Suite certification or formal Oracle training
- Experience with Oracle Premier and Extended Support models
- Experience in regulated or complex operational environments
