Summary: The Project Manager will oversee the design and construction of a new prison on St Helena Island, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations while managing project performance, budget, and timelines. This role requires collaboration with various stakeholders and the ability to navigate a politically sensitive environment. The position is a fixed-term contract for two years, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of the island's infrastructure. The successful candidate will also engage in community and workforce development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the project through the RIBA project cycle, ensuring representation of all interests at the Project Board.
- Manage project performance, including safety, timing, budget, and quality, reporting to governance bodies.
- Coordinate the project through design stages, leading the design authority team to ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
- Develop and maintain project plans and schedules, considering technical feasibility and stakeholder needs.
- Negotiate and manage the contractor's programme of works and undertake contract administration.
- Share knowledge and skills to contribute to workforce and community development in St Helena.
Key Skills:
- Qualified to level 6 in engineering or management.
- Practitioner level qualification such as APM, PRINCE 2, or PMI.
- Experience managing large complex projects to approved standards.
- Understanding of the RIBA Plan of Works 2022.
- Strong report writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a politically sensitive environment.
