Summary: The Project Manager will oversee civil infrastructure works within the energy sector, specifically focusing on the Steam Turbine Generator (STG) infrastructure. This role involves managing a General Contractor to ensure project delivery aligns with programme, cost, and quality standards while maintaining stakeholder relationships and governance in a regulated environment. The position requires BPSS clearance eligibility and is offered on a 12-month contract basis. The working arrangement is hybrid, based in Warrington.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate General Contractor activities across civil infrastructure works
  • Oversee delivery of roads, buildings, utilities, and service infrastructure
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, cost forecasts, and risk registers
  • Monitor progress and drive contractor performance to meet key milestones
  • Manage General Contractor contracts including change control and claims resolution
  • Ensure compliance with commercial, technical, and regulatory requirements
  • Support procurement and manage supplier and subcontractor interfaces
  • Liaise with internal teams, consultants, and local authorities
  • Provide regular reporting, dashboards, and updates to senior stakeholders
  • Represent the project in coordination and governance forums
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, quality, and site governance standards
  • Support audits, inspections, and assurance activities
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and delivery performance
  • Capture lessons learned and promote best practice across the programme

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience managing General Contractors on civil infrastructure projects
  • Strong background delivering roads, buildings, utilities, and services
  • Experience in regulated or complex environments (e.g. energy, utilities, transport)
  • Strong knowledge of contract administration and commercial management
  • Excellent planning, leadership, and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams
  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or similar
  • Project Management certification (e.g. APM PMQ, PRINCE2, PMP) preferred

ABOUT THE CLIENT

Our client is delivering a large-scale infrastructure programme within the energy sector, supporting the development of complex facilities and critical national infrastructure. This role sits within the Conventional Island scope, focusing on civil works associated with Steam Turbine Generator (STG) infrastructure.

THE PROJECT MANAGER ROLE

As Project Manager, you will lead and manage a General Contractor (GC) delivering key civil infrastructure works across the STG scope. You will be responsible for ensuring delivery across programme, cost, and quality, while managing stakeholder relationships and maintaining strong governance across a highly regulated environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Exposure to nuclear or highly regulated environments

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or similar
  • Project Management certification (e.g. APM PMQ, PRINCE2, PMP) preferred
