Summary: The Project Manager will oversee the implementation of a Web Application Firewall (WAF) to enhance web security. This role requires a blend of project management skills and technical knowledge in cybersecurity, ensuring effective deployment and compliance with industry standards. The position involves coordinating cross-functional teams and managing vendor relationships to achieve project objectives. The contract is for an initial period of six months with hybrid working arrangements in Sheffield.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables for the WAF implementation initiative.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, risk assessments, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor progress and adjust project plans as needed to meet deadlines and budgets.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders, including IT, cybersecurity, development teams, and executive leadership.
  • Communicate project updates, risks, and dependencies to stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to identify and prioritize application vulnerabilities and protection requirements.
  • Partner with technical teams and vendors to ensure successful deployment, configuration, and testing of the WAF solution.
  • Oversee integration with existing systems and workflows, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Evaluate and select WAF vendors, tools, and solutions in collaboration with procurement and technical teams.
  • Manage vendor relationships, ensuring compliance with contractual agreements and deliverable expectations.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, particularly those related to web application vulnerabilities and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure that the WAF solution meets industry standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Oversee the creation of user guides, technical documentation, and training materials for teams interacting with the WAF solution.
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer and ensure a smooth transition to operational teams post-implementation.

Key Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in project management, with a focus on IT or cybersecurity initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience leading WAF or similar cybersecurity technology implementation projects.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Waterfall) and tools (e.g., JIRA, Microsoft Project).
  • Solid understanding of web application security, OWASP Top 10, and WAF technologies.
