Summary: The Project Manager will oversee the 'Connecting to Our Cameroonian Roots' project, ensuring its strategic and operational success while working closely with various stakeholders. This role involves capturing and preserving Cameroonian culture through digital records and community engagement, particularly focusing on the experiences of migrants in Greater Manchester. The Project Manager will lead a team of volunteers and project leaders, manage project activities, and ensure compliance with funding requirements. The ultimate goal is to foster a deeper understanding of Cameroonian heritage among the diaspora and promote cultural continuity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead project planning and execution according to the established strategy, including risk assessment.
  • Encourage participation from a diverse range of individuals from Francophone African backgrounds.
  • Recruit and train project leaders, sub-project team leaders, and volunteers for various project tasks.
  • Film oral histories and oversee the collection and archiving of cultural materials.
  • Ensure project activities are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and funders, maintaining strong relationships.
  • Produce a video documentary and manage project administration and financial reporting.
  • Oversee PR and marketing efforts, including press releases and social media updates.

Key Skills:

  • Experience in oral history recording techniques and methodologies.
  • Fluent in English and French, with an understanding of barriers to participation in heritage projects.
  • Strong people and project management skills.
  • Excellent organizational abilities and risk assessment skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, social media).
  • Patience, tact, and diplomacy in working with diverse groups.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends, to meet project deadlines.
  • Experience in managing National Lottery projects and reporting.
  • Strong writing skills for documentation and reporting purposes.
