Summary: The Project Manager will oversee critical upgrades to National Electrical Infrastructure, ensuring the delivery of multi-disciplinary design and build projects. This role involves coordinating team activities across planning, engineering, procurement, and quality to meet contractual obligations on time and within budget. The Project Manager will also manage commercial, technical, and quality issues while maintaining strong client relationships and compliance with relevant standards. The position requires effective communication and leadership to drive project success in a competitive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage projects for the Engineering Solutions business unit, ensuring contractual obligations are met on time and budget.
  • Lead and coordinate a multi-disciplinary project team to deliver project objectives efficiently.
  • Manage commercial, technical, and quality issues on the project.
  • Create, maintain, and drive progress against a project programme.
  • Ensure timely completion of project commercial obligations, including claims and extensions.
  • Conduct project reviews to control progress, manage costs, and identify risks.
  • Prepare precise estimates to the highest quality and engineering standards.
  • Liaise with internal and external suppliers for competitive quotations and tender information.
  • Attend and actively participate in meetings with clients and team members.
  • Provide regular plans and reports to clients and internal leaders.
  • Maintain positive client relationships and monitor collaboration software.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM, SHE, and quality standards through leadership.
  • Administer contracts proactively and assist with labour forecasting.
  • Procure materials and manage subcontractors effectively.
  • Supervise design integration across all project disciplines.
  • Manage a team of engineering personnel for successful project delivery.
  • Contribute to design development and review meetings.

Key Skills:

  • Previous experience in estimating high-quality work packages in the power and energy industry.
  • Effective communication, negotiation, and influencing skills at all organizational levels.
  • Good knowledge of commercial practices and contract law.
  • High level of computer literacy, including MS Office and project management tools.
  • Understanding of project management in High Voltage (HV) substation environments.
  • Flexibility to travel to customer or supplier sites as required.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Knowledge of project management practices and NEC4 contracts.
  • Familiarity with planning software and project life cycle processes.
  • Good knowledge of HSE systems and compliance.
  • Understanding of QA systems and CDM requirements.
  • Knowledge of Primavera P6 and design processes.
  • Understanding of Low Voltage Electrical Design and HV Transmission.
