Summary: The Project Manager will oversee the operational and financial performance of contracts, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and meets client expectations. This role involves managing site resources, compliance with regulations, and maintaining profitability while fostering a motivated team environment. The position requires strong leadership and communication skills, alongside a solid understanding of construction practices and safety regulations. The Project Manager will also be responsible for risk assessment and documentation control throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, welfare, and environmental regulations while maximizing contract profitability.
  • Manage site resources, including subcontractors, and assign roles and responsibilities.
  • Liaise with Senior Manager regarding performance and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with client authorization requirements and company standards.
  • Control documentation in collaboration with back-office support.
  • Assess health and safety competence of subcontractors and direct labor before work commencement.
  • Compile site-specific method statements and risk assessments.
  • Monitor contract commercials to ensure client delivery and profitability.
  • Manage resources such as labor, materials, and plant.
  • Promote safety and competence, including training requirements.
  • Lead and motivate the team, delegating appropriately.
  • Develop team members in an ordered manner.

Key Skills:

  • Degree/HNC/HND or equivalent in Civil Engineering or Construction.
  • Knowledge of management techniques (resource management, monitoring and control, cost planning, and programme management).
  • H&S Qualification IOSH/NEBOSH or similar.
  • Understanding of NRSWA Regulations and Temporary Works Regulations TWC.
  • Financial awareness.
  • Excellent knowledge of Work Regulations, CDM 2015, and H&S at Work Act 1974.
  • Knowledge of contract law and Conditions of Contract NEC 4.
  • Experience in construction practices (pipelaying, tunnelling, MEICA installation, reinforced concrete, flow diversions, etc.).
  • Good verbal communication and management skills.
  • Clean Driving Licence.

Description

As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for the operational and financial performance of the contract; delivering the work safely, on time, in budget and to our Client’s expectations.

Key Responsibilities

We are looking for someone to:

  • Ensure all work within the contract under your control are carried out in full compliance with health, safety, welfare and environmental regulations, while working to maximize the profitability of the contract and ensuring satisfaction of contractual requirements
  • Manage site resources to meet the successful delivery of the project including subcontractors and visiting support. Assign staff and subcontractors to roles and responsibilities.
  • Liaise with Senior Manager in relation to performance and reporting
  • Ensure compliance with the client’s authorisation requirements and specifications, with the company standards of service and quality systems
  • Control documentation, working closely with the back-office support team
  • Ensure that the health and safety competence of sub-contract organisation and direct labour are assessed prior to commencing work
  • Assess the risk associated with our operations and ensure that the correct site-specific method statements and risk assessments are compiled in advance of works
  • Have a keen eye on the commercials of the contract, making sure we can deliver for our clients and maintain profitability
  • Manage all resources e.g. labour, materials and plant
  • Take pride in our delivery, and make repeat business a measure of success
  • Demand safety and competence, including training requirements, and push for improvement in all teams
  • Manage and motivate a team, delegating where appropriate, but leading by example
  • Have an ordered approach to the development of the people in your area

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Degree/HNC/HND or equivalent in Civil Engineering or Construction preferable Knowledge of relevant management techniques (resource management, monitoring and control, Cost Planning and Programme Management)
