Summary: The role of Project Manager involves overseeing the construction of a new substation in the Edinburgh region for a civil engineering contractor specializing in renewable energy projects. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules (civil, structural, M&E works).
- Define project scope, milestones, and deliverables.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, and stakeholders for planning and approvals.
- Prepare and manage project budgets and forecasts.
- Track project expenditures and ensure cost control.
- Approve subcontractor invoices, change orders, and procurement requests.
- Oversee the execution of works, ensuring adherence to design, quality, and timelines.
- Ensure materials, equipment, and labour are mobilized and used efficiently.
- Liaise with design teams to ensure construction drawings are accurate and buildable.
- Resolve technical issues and RFIs (Requests for Information).
- Ensure interface coordination between civil and electrical disciplines.
- Enforce HSE policies and lead site safety initiatives.
- Ensure all works comply with local regulations and client safety standards.
- Participate in safety audits, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
- Ensure construction quality meets specifications, codes, and client expectations.
- Manage documentation such as ITPs, NCRs, and quality records.
- Act as the main point of contact between the contractor, client, and third parties.
- Chair progress meetings and issue regular progress reports.
- Approve material and equipment procurement schedules.
- Maintain project documentation, logs, and contractual records.
Key Skills:
- Right to work in the UK.
- Diploma or degree in civil engineering.
- CSCS card.
- SMSTS.
- Proven experience in a project manager's role.
- Previous experience working on a substation build.
- IT literate.
- Strong communication skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
