Key Responsibilities:

Key Skills:

  • Previous experience as a Project Manager in a contracting or civil engineering environment.
  • Degree / HNC / HND in civil engineering or equivalent technical experience.
  • Experience leading teams on infrastructure projects, particularly in rail and/or highways.
  • Basic electrical safety knowledge and experience in power stations is advantageous.
  • Experience in managing multiple programmes from pre-construction to handover.
  • Industry certifications such as SMSTS and Temporary Works Coordinator.
  • Strong leadership skills to manage teams and ensure quality delivery.

The Role

As Project Manager, you will lead teams responsible for delivering a portfolio of civil engineering (with some electrical and facilities management works) projects, ensuring seamless execution from tendering to project completion. Your key responsibilities will include:

Strategic Leadership: Managing multiple projects, ensuring successful delivery within budget and programme.

Compliance & Safety: Ensuring contracts adhere to all applicable legislation, Health & Safety Plans, and environmental requirements.

Project Oversight: Keeping site teams informed about contract parameters and ensuring they have the right resources to achieve objectives.

Subcontractor & Supplier Management: Controlling and coordinating external resources to maintain the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and quality.

Progress Monitoring: Continuously tracking contract performance to ensure milestones and objectives are met.

Contract Negotiation: Identifying, agreeing, and managing contract changes in collaboration with the Project Delivery Team.

Reporting & Business Development: Providing formal progress reports while identifying new business opportunities for growth.

What We’re Looking For

To excel in this role, you should have previous experience leading civil engineering projects with a strong technical and managerial background. The ideal candidate will bring:

Proven Experience: Previous experience as a Project Manager in a contracting or civil engineering environment.

Technical Expertise: Degree / HNC / HND in civil engineering or strong equivalent experience in a technical engineering role.

Civils Experience: Demonstrated experience leading teams on infrastructure projects, with rail and/or highways experience. Any previous experience working in power stations or similar environments, along with basic electrical safety knowledge, is advantageous.

Planning: Demonstrated experience in managing multiple programmes through pore-constriction phase to handover.

Industry Certifications: SMSTS, Temporary Works Coordinator.

Strong Leadership Skills: The ability to manage teams and drive excellence across multiple contracts, ensuring safe delivery and quality at all times.
