Your new company
You will be working with a leading facilities and infrastructure provider supporting a major, multi-year construction programme within a live secure estate.
A Tier 1 main contractor is delivering a substantial new-build development adjacent to the existing prison estate, creating a requirement for an experienced Project Manager to represent the existing operational/FM team throughout the construction programme.
Your new role
As Project Manager, you will work closely with the Tier 1 construction team, acting as the key interface between the major new-build works and the existing operational estate.
This is a long-term, construction-focused position where you will follow the project as it develops, monitor progress on site and ensure that new construction and M&E works are properly coordinated with existing buildings, infrastructure and live services.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring the progress of the major construction programme
- Working closely with the Tier 1 main contractor and project team
- Attending construction progress, technical and coordination meetings
- Carrying out regular site walkarounds and keeping up to date with upcoming works
- Coordinating interfaces between the new-build development and the existing estate
- Providing technical input around electrical, gas and wider M&E services
- Coordinating planned isolations, shutdowns, connections and alterations to existing services
- Identifying potential construction or services issues that could impact the operational estate
- Supporting testing and commissioning activities as works progress
- Developing a detailed understanding of the new buildings, systems and installations throughout construction
- Keeping the existing FM team informed and prepared as different phases of the project develop
- Eventually supporting the transition of completed project works into business as usual operations
What you'll need to succeed: You will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Construction Project Manager, M&E Project Manager, Building Services Project Manager or similar
- Strong experience working on major construction or new-build projects
- Good technical understanding of electrical and gas services
- Experience working alongside Tier 1 main contractors and specialist subcontractors
- Experience working around existing/live services
- Knowledge of isolations, shutdowns and service connections
- Experience attending construction progress and technical meetings
- Knowledge of M&E testing and commissioning
- Experience within prisons, defence, healthcare or other live/secure environments would be advantageous
- Ability to obtain the required EH1 security clearance
What you'll get in return
This is a genuine long-term opportunity on a major new-build construction programme, giving you the chance to follow a significant development through its construction and M&E phases and eventually into BAU.
