Summary: The role of Project Manager focuses on leading and coordinating complex network and firewall migration projects, specifically utilizing Checkpoint Firewall technologies. The position requires strong project management skills and a background in network infrastructure. It is classified as inside IR35 and offers a competitive daily rate. The role is based in Leeds with hybrid working arrangements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage end-to-end firewall migration projects, including planning, scheduling, execution, and delivery.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams of network engineers, security engineers, and infrastructure specialists to achieve project goals.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Checkpoint Firewall migration activities, including upgrades, policy optimization, and rule base clean-up.
- Oversee the planning and execution of network cutovers, change management processes, and post-migration validation.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, risk logs, and communication reports.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, define scope, and align project deliverables with business objectives.
- Manage vendor relationships, ensuring timely delivery of hardware, licenses, and support services.
- Track and report on project status, risks, dependencies, and resource utilization to leadership.
- Ensure compliance with network and security standards, policies, and best practices.
- Support continuous improvement by documenting lessons learned and implementing process enhancements.
Key Skills:
- 5+ years of experience in project management within network infrastructure or security engineering environments.
- Proven hands-on or management experience with Checkpoint Firewalls (R80.x or later preferred).
- Demonstrated success leading firewall migration projects (e.g., legacy to Checkpoint, data center migrations, or cloud firewall deployments).
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, switching, VPNs, NAT, etc.).
- Experience managing projects using Agile and/or Waterfall methodologies.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives.
- Checkpoint Certified Security Administrator (CCSA) or Checkpoint Certified Security Expert (CCSE) certification preferred.
- Familiarity with other firewall platforms (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA) a plus.
- Experience with cloud networking and security (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- PMP or PRINCE2 certification preferred.
