Summary: The role of Project Manager (Fire Protection) involves leading the delivery of passive fire contracts, particularly fire door installations, across various sectors including healthcare and education. The position requires robust operational experience and a focus on quality assurance, compliance, and contract performance. The successful candidate will manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget while maintaining high standards. Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day delivery of 4 to 8 live projects simultaneously, each ranging in value from £100K to £600K
  • Manage works across a range of settings, including NHS buildings, schools, commercial premises, and heritage assets
  • Oversee the installation, inspection and snagging of fire doors and associated works, including final decorating
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, to specification and within budget, with regular monitoring of cost performance
  • Maintain robust quality control across all fire door types: timber, composite, steel, and specialist/anti-ligature doors
  • Prepare for and support third-party accreditation inspections and door final door sign off under BM TRADA scheme
  • Liaise with the client throughout project delivery for updates and issue resolution (with support from a dedicated Account Manager)
  • Input compliance data via Onetrace and ensure accurate record-keeping for audit and client reporting purposes
  • Conduct and document site audits, toolbox talks and site meetings
  • Take responsibility for health & safety compliance on site, including RAMS and site documentation
  • Support with procurement of materials, subcontractor coordination, and progress reporting to senior management

Key Skills:

  • Proven track record in delivering passive fire projects, ideally with a specialism in fire door installation
  • Comfortable managing multiple concurrent sites and operational teams
  • Excellent project management skills and experience, ideally backed up by a PRINCE2® qualification
  • BM TRADA experience (or similar third-party certification) is highly desirable
  • Tech-driven– able to confidently use apps such as Onetrace and other reporting tools
  • Commercially aware, with a good understanding of cost control, productivity, and programme management
  • Excellent attention to detail, particularly around quality and compliance documentation
  • A clear communicator who can lead teams and represent the business professionally on site

We’re recruiting on behalf of a specialist fire protection contractor delivering high-quality passive fire solutions across healthcare, education, heritage, and commercial sectors.

With a strong pipeline of work in the London and Home Counties area, they’re looking to appoint a Project Manager with robust operational experience to lead the successful delivery of live passive fire contracts — particularly fire door installations — across multiple sites.

This is an operations-heavy role with a firm focus on quality assurance, compliance, and contract performance. The successful candidate will ideally have a fire door background and be confident overseeing projects to BM TRADA (or equivalent) standards.
