Summary: The Project Manager for the Downs to the Sea initiative will lead efforts to restore and protect wetlands across the South Downs, engaging communities and promoting biodiversity. This role involves coordinating partner involvement, managing complex projects, and ensuring effective stakeholder engagement. The position is funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and aims to enhance ecological potential while fostering community involvement. The role is fixed-term for 2.5 years and requires strong project management experience in environmental or heritage sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate partner involvement and deliver project objectives.
  • Oversee and enable key capital works in collaboration with the RSPB.
  • Engage volunteer groups and local stakeholders to foster teamwork.
  • Manage project budgets and produce reports for boards and funders.
  • Plan, organize, and deliver complex, multi-partner projects.
  • Promote health and wellbeing through engagement activities.
  • Develop skills and knowledge of the landscape among diverse audiences.

Key Skills:

  • Strong project management experience.
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in project management, environmental conservation, or heritage management.
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale projects in environmental or heritage sectors.
  • Excellent people skills for effective collaboration with colleagues, partners, and community groups.
  • Ability to manage budgets and produce reports.

Salary (Rate): £45,495
