The Role

As Project Construction Manager, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating construction activities across the project, working closely with engineers, subcontractors and the wider project team.

You will play a key role in ensuring structural and bridge repair works are delivered to the required technical, quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day delivery of bridge repair and structural works.
  • Coordinate site teams, subcontractors and specialist structural contractors.
  • Work closely with structural engineers and the wider project team.
  • Interpret and work from engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Plan and coordinate construction activities to maintain programme.
  • Monitor quality and ensure works are delivered in accordance with design requirements.
  • Manage structural repair, refurbishment and associated civil engineering activities.
  • Identify construction issues and develop practical solutions in conjunction with the engineering team.
  • Coordinate temporary works and specialist access requirements where required.
  • Ensure all works comply with health & safety and environmental requirements.
  • Lead site meetings and provide regular progress updates.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and programme.
  • Maintain accurate site records, documentation and reporting.
  • Support the successful completion, testing and handover of the works.

The Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience as a Project Construction Manager, Construction Manager, Project Manager, Senior Site Manager or similar.
  • A strong background in structural engineering, structural construction or civil engineering.
  • Demonstrable experience working on bridge repairs or bridge refurbishment projects.
  • Good understanding of structural repair methodologies and construction sequencing.
  • Experience coordinating specialist subcontractors and engineering teams.
  • Ability to understand and interpret structural drawings and engineering specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of construction health & safety requirements.
  • Excellent programme, planning and coordination skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.
  • Relevant construction/engineering qualifications.
  • Appropriate CSCS certification.

Harrogate, North Yorkshire

Candidates must be able to reliably travel to and work on site in Harrogate for the duration of the project.
