Summary: The role of PMO Manager involves supporting the delivery of a strategic cybersecurity portfolio, focusing on governance, financial accuracy, and high-quality reporting. This hands-on position requires collaboration with other PMO professionals and the Programme Manager to ensure portfolio success in a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will bring clarity and consistency to complex projects while enabling effective PMO practices. This is a 12-month contract with a hybrid working arrangement based in Waterside, London.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Finance to ensure accurate budget forecasting, tracking, and receipting.
  • Own and improve the governance model, ensuring portfolio consistency and effective ways of working.
  • Support preparation and facilitation of monthly portfolio review boards and regular steering groups with the executive team.
  • Work with the Programme Manager to maintain the programme plan, ensuring milestones, dependencies, and progress are visible.
  • Maintain and proactively manage the risk, issue, action and decision (RAID) log.
  • Produce executive-ready decks and reports that are clear, visually strong, and outcome-focused.
  • Collaborate with delivery leads and project managers in a supportive and complementary way, avoiding unnecessary overhead.
  • Act as a coordination point across the portfolio, ensuring clarity and alignment.
  • Identify and implement improvements in reporting, tooling, and governance, flexing between Agile and Waterfall where required.

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience in a PMO Manager or Senior PMO Analyst role within large-scale IT or cybersecurity programmes.
  • Strong understanding of governance, portfolio management, and programme controls.
  • Confident working with finance teams on forecasting, accruals, and spend tracking.
  • Excellent presentation skills, able to create clear, concise, and impactful decks for senior stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and collaborate across delivery teams.
  • Experience maintaining programme plans, RAID logs, and portfolio reporting.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-paced environments with evolving priorities.

About the role We’re recruiting for a highly capable PMO Manager to support the delivery of a strategic cybersecurity portfolio for our client. This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role—not a line management position—where you'll work closely with another PMO professional and the Programme Manager to drive portfolio success. The environment is dynamic and evolving, with limited structure currently in place. As the organisation begins rolling out major cybersecurity programmes, your expertise will be key in establishing effective governance, ensuring financial accuracy, and producing high-quality reporting and board materials. What’s in it for you? – Our client loves to reward their people for doing a great job. This is 12 months contract. A daily rate, in-scope IR35, of £ 500-550(PAYE) OR £600-670.00 (via a Hays Approved Umbrella Company). This role provides a hybrid working(1 day a week) access in Waterside, London
