Summary: The Project Engineer / Technology Engineer role focuses on supporting innovation projects within the HS1 rail infrastructure, emphasizing automation and digital technologies to enhance maintenance efficiency, safety, and sustainability. This position reports to the Head of Innovation at Network Rail High Speed and is offered as a 6-month contract with potential for permanent placement. Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver innovation and technology projects across HS1
- Support automation of inspection and maintenance activities
- Implement emerging technologies and digital solutions
- Drive operational efficiency and asset performance improvements
- Engage with engineering, operations, and external technology partners
Key Skills:
- Experience delivering technology or innovation projects
- Exposure to drones and/or remote condition monitoring
- Strong technical mindset with software/systems understanding
- Ability to work autonomously and engage senior stakeholders
- Experience working in a regulated engineering environment
- Rail, infrastructure, or asset management experience (desirable)
- Exposure to AI, automation, digital inspection, or smart technologies (desirable)
- Knowledge of One Big Circle, AiVR, or Transmission Dynamics (desirable)
- Degree in Engineering, Technology, Software, or Computer Science (desirable)
- Chartered Engineer status, or working towards, preferred
