Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and assess M&E / Building Services design documentation for compliance with project requirements and standards
  • Collaborate with design teams, contractors, and project managers to ensure accurate and timely delivery of engineering outputs
  • Support the development and integration of engineering solutions aligned with railway infrastructure standards
  • Conduct site visits as needed to review installations and interface with stakeholders
  • Ensure engineering assurance and manage technical risks across multiple concurrent projects
  • Provide input into project planning, delivery, and progress reporting
  • Liaise with Network Rail and TRU stakeholders to ensure alignment with wider programme goals

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience as a Project Engineer within the rail sector (M&E / Building Services)
  • Strong knowledge of rail engineering standards and practices, particularly for stations, depots, or operational buildings
  • Experience reviewing and coordinating M&E design deliverables
  • Ability to manage and prioritise workloads across multiple projects
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Competent in technical report writing and design assurance processes
  • Chartered Engineer or working toward chartership (desirable)

Overview: We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer (M&E / Building Services) to support the delivery of key rail infrastructure projects as part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) programme. This is a part-time role (3 days per week), shared across 2-3 projects. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in reviewing and coordinating designs, ensuring compliance and engineering quality across M&E systems.
