Summary: The Project Engineer role at a global medical device company involves leading a high-impact automation project, focusing on end-to-end equipment integration from design to handover. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support large-scale automation initiatives as a hands-on project engineer
  • Lead installation, commissioning, and validation activities (FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ, PQ)
  • Oversee process development and integration of new equipment
  • Manage design reviews with machinery vendors and maintain robust documentation systems
  • Deliver lean process improvements that reduce cost of goods and increase operational uptime
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, EHS, and all relevant regulatory standards (GAMP5, FDA, MHRA)
  • Identify opportunities to improve process capability and machine performance
  • Participate in continuous improvement (CI) projects throughout the engineering lifecycle

Key Skills:

  • Degree or equivalent in an Engineering Discipline
  • Time-served engineering background with a focus on automation/process equipment
  • Strong knowledge of IQ/OQ/PQ validation principles
  • Proficiency in SAP, MS Office Suite, MS Project, and CAD
  • Familiarity with regulated environments and a pragmatic understanding of compliance
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, planning, and project execution skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative, hands-on approach to engineering
  • Experience in medical devices (desirable)
  • Proficiency in process validation and quality tools (e.g., FMEA) (desirable)
  • Background in equipment selection and technology evaluation (desirable)

Planet Pharma are working with a global medical device company, seeking a Project Engineer to join them on a contract assignment. You’ll be at the forefront of a high-impact automation project, supporting end-to-end equipment integration from design to handover. Working collaboratively across global and site-based teams, you'll ensure engineering excellence in alignment with quality, safety, cost, and delivery goals—while also driving long-term value through thoughtful capital deployment.
