Project Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join a major delivery partner on a long-term water infrastructure and civil engineering scheme near Royal Tunbridge Wells.

This 18-month contract offers long-term stability within the AMP8 investment cycle. Working across clean water and wastewater assets, you will manage civil infrastructure packages-including deep drainage, pipeline installations, reinforced concrete (RC) structures, thrust blocks, and associated site works-ensuring projects progress seamlessly from design through to construction and handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Site Management & Delivery: Oversee daily engineering operations on civil infrastructure works, coordinating subcontractors, direct labor gangs, plant, and material deliveries.
  • Technical Interface: Act as the main technical link between design consultants, site management, and client representatives. Resolve Technical Queries (TQs) and Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Quality & Assurance: Prepare, execute, and monitor Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), track non-conformances, enforce structural/civil tolerances, and maintain strict site records.
  • Health, Safety & Environment: Review and approve Method Statements and Risk Assessments (RAMS), manage Permits to Dig, and drive zero-harm site safety standards.
  • Progress Tracking: Work closely with the Project Manager to track 3-week lookahead schedules, monitor daily production rates, and manage commercial change events.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Water Sector Experience: Proven track record as a Project Engineer delivering civil engineering or water infrastructure schemes under UK AMP frameworks.
  • Technical Knowledge: Solid grounding in heavy civils, deep drainage, reinforced concrete, pipework networks, earthworks, and service isolation protocols on live water assets.
  • Qualifications: HND or Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent practical industry experience).
  • Mandatory Tickets: Valid CSCS Card, SSSTS or SMSTS, and EUSR National Water Hygiene Card.
  • Desirable: First Aid at Work, Confined Spaces training, or Temporary Works Coordinator/Supervisor
