Summary: The Project Control Engineer will support the Work Package Manager in overseeing contractor performance and assist in the preparation and updating of project schedules and reporting activities. The role involves maintaining project control schedules, providing progress reports, and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations. The engineer will also analyze project deliverables and support the development of action plans to mitigate cost and schedule overruns. Strong experience in project controls, particularly within the Oil & Gas industry, is essential for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Package Manager in managing project controls for allocated work packages.
- Attend meetings with contractors and perform site visits.
- Maintain and update the package control schedule, supporting integration into the overall LBCCS schedule.
- Provide the PM and Project Control Department with progress reports including schedule updates, KPIs, forecasts, variance analysis, and improvement opportunities.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with contractual obligations and procedural requirements.
- Verify contractor progress and applications for payment.
- Assist the package team in developing action plans to avoid cost and schedule overruns through Value Engineering.
- Support the review and challenge of forecast trend analysis for schedules and costs.
- Analyse project deliverables to assess and challenge forecasted man-hours.
- Review forecasts with the Project Manager and Engineering Leadership Team.
- Monitor overall project performance and present results to the package team.
- Prepare progress analysis reports for development and execution phases.
- Manage the lessons-learned database.
- Maintain change management records and support the WPM in evaluating change orders.
- Support the WPM in monitoring permitting progress.
Key Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Strong written and spoken English (other languages a plus).
- Solid understanding of project controls tools and principles.
- Experience as a Planner in the Oil & Gas industry, ideally with operating companies.
- Proficiency in Primavera P6.
- Experience with SharePoint (familiarity with Eni tools such as Assai, Xflow, etc. beneficial).
- Knowledge of challenges and opportunities in transitioning from oil & gas to low-carbon energy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Project Execution / Project Controls.
