We currently have an opening for a Project Accountant within a large organisation. The size of this organisation means that this role is very likely to open the door to permanent opportunities and a range of fantastic benefits. You will be responsible for managing applications and delivering thorough financial reviews to ensure compliance with funding requirements, policies, and regulations. Your duties will include

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting detailed financial viability assessments of applicant organisations, reviewing financial statements, cash flow forecasts, management accounts, and other supporting information.
  • Performing financial eligibility reviews of project costs, budgets, and funding claims to ensure compliance with programme guidance and relevant regulations.
  • Identifying financial risks, anomalies, and areas requiring clarification, providing robust recommendations and documenting findings accurately.
  • Engaging directly with applicants, Finance Directors, CFOs, and senior business leaders to discuss financial submissions and resolve queries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders to integrate financial review outcomes into wider project assessment and approval processes.
  • Providing financial guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle, including advising on project changes, cost variations, and escalated funding queries.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance financial review processes, systems, and controls.
  • Maintaining accurate audit trails and records, ensuring all assessments are completed to a high standard and within agreed timescales.
  • Supporting wider team objectives and ad hoc business requirements as required.

Essential Requirements:

  • Professionally qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience (AAT, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, ICAEW or equivalent).
  • Proven Management Accounting experience within a commercial environment.
  • Strong understanding of business accounts, financial reporting, and management accounting principles.
  • Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet challenging deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
