We currently have an opening for a Project Accountant within a large organisation. You will be responsible for managing applications and delivering thorough financial reviews to ensure compliance with funding requirements, policies, and regulations. Your duties will include
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting detailed financial viability assessments of applicant organisations, reviewing financial statements, cash flow forecasts, management accounts, and other supporting information.
- Performing financial eligibility reviews of project costs, budgets, and funding claims to ensure compliance with programme guidance and relevant regulations.
- Identifying financial risks, anomalies, and areas requiring clarification, providing robust recommendations and documenting findings accurately.
- Engaging directly with applicants, Finance Directors, CFOs, and senior business leaders to discuss financial submissions and resolve queries in a professional and timely manner.
- Working closely with internal stakeholders to integrate financial review outcomes into wider project assessment and approval processes.
- Providing financial guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle, including advising on project changes, cost variations, and escalated funding queries.
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance financial review processes, systems, and controls.
- Maintaining accurate audit trails and records, ensuring all assessments are completed to a high standard and within agreed timescales.
- Supporting wider team objectives and ad hoc business requirements as required.
Essential Requirements:
- Professionally qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience (AAT, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, ICAEW or equivalent).
- Proven Management Accounting experience within a commercial environment.
- Strong understanding of business accounts, financial reporting, and management accounting principles.
- Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet challenging deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
