Key Responsibilities:

  • Review & Improve Processes: Map and analyse existing finance and procurement systems to identify bottlenecks and reduce risk.
  • Drive Change: Design and implement more effective processes and internal controls that boost efficiency, transparency, and accountability.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work with Finance, Technology, and other colleagues to ensure new systems are understood and adopted confidently.
  • Provide Critical Support: Offer hands-on accounting support to help the team meet deadlines and compliance requirements – from budgeting to gift aid and beyond.
  • Monitor Progress: Use data to measure impact and share insights with the leadership team.

Key Skills:

  • A Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with solid post-qualification experience in both financial and management accounting.
  • Problem Solver: You enjoy untangling complexity, improving systems, and translating insights into action.
  • Tech-Savvy: Proficient in Excel and other tools (Power BI a plus) – and ideally familiar with Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Communicative & Collaborative: Able to explain complex ideas clearly and work across teams with empathy and clarity.
  • Mission-Aligned: While you don’t need to be a practising Christian, you should be sympathetic to the aims and ethos of the Church of England.

The Salisbury Diocesan Board of Finance (DBF) is looking for a talented Process Improvement / Project Accountant to join our Parish Support & Finance Team on a fixed-term contract.
