Summary: The Progression Coach role in Birmingham focuses on assisting young people in enhancing their life skills through tailored programs and support. The position involves motivating youth to engage in education, training, and employment while providing holistic support and safeguarding their welfare. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders to improve access to opportunities and resources for young people. This is a full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist young people in improving life skills through individual and group programs.
- Support young people in undertaking the St Basils life skills program to achieve qualifications.
- Encourage engagement with education, training, and employment opportunities.
- Work flexibly to assist young people with any arising problems.
- Refer young people to work experience and employment opportunities.
- Establish links with training providers, employers, and volunteering networks.
- Identify and recommend additional resources and services for clients.
- Maintain accurate records of action plans and progress for young people.
- Conduct holistic risk and needs assessments and develop support plans.
- Support young people in developing positive family and support networks.
- Prepare young people for settled accommodation and provide ongoing support.
- Be available for regular support sessions and respond to crises.
- Safeguard the welfare of young people.
- Promote participation of young people in their support plans and service management.
- Facilitate access to other support services.
- Ensure benefit claims are made to maximize income for young people.
- Organize and accompany young people to appointments as needed.
- Maintain accurate records, including support plans and daily records.
- Provide out-of-hours support on a rota basis for emergencies.
- Work as part of a team and cover for colleagues as required.
- Assist in preparing accommodation, including cleaning duties.
- Support the induction of new staff and supervise volunteers and trainees.
