Summary: The Programmes and Grants Manager will oversee a portfolio of impactful programmes across multiple continents, utilizing sport as a tool for social change. This role involves managing grants, providing support to grantees, and ensuring compliance with funding requirements. The manager will also engage in capacity building and represent the organization in relevant forums. Strong experience in international development and grant management is essential for success in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage a caseload of grants, including institutional and internal grants.
- Support the ongoing development of grantees through capacity building and networking opportunities.
- Support the development team with applications to institutional funders, trusts, and foundations.
- Ensure grant-management requirements for internal and external funding are met successfully.
- Work closely with grantees to source narratives of individual and community transformation.
- Provide good customer care to grantees, maintaining regular but appropriate contact.
- Undertake monitoring trips and conduct site assessments for international and UK-based projects.
- Source new and innovative projects in line with funding criteria.
- Assist in raising child protection standards within the programme portfolio.
- Update databases, analyse report data, and write recommendations for senior management.
- Line-manage junior staff, interns, and consultants as requested.
- Assist with project visits, PR activities, and other events as required.
- Represent the organisation in relevant sector forums and keep up to date with developments in sport for development.
Key Skills:
- Experience working in international development, preferably in a developing country or community-based organisation.
- Solid experience working in a charity or foundation focused on international development.
- Experience submitting successful funding proposals to institutional donors, trusts, and foundations.
- Strong track record of successfully managing reporting requirements associated with grants.
- Good project management skills, with experience delivering or grant-managing projects internationally.
- Experience working across a number of continents.
- Sound knowledge of the sport-for-development sector.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work on your own initiative at a fast pace.
- Basic budgeting and financial management experience.
