Summary: The Programme Test Manager is responsible for leading a hybrid onshore-offshore testing team within a large programme, ensuring effective planning, execution, governance, and reporting of testing activities. The role requires strong stakeholder engagement and adherence to internal testing governance while focusing on continuous improvement in test effectiveness and automation. The position operates autonomously and demands extensive experience in managing testing for large programmes. The role is based in London and is outside IR35 for a duration of 6 months or more.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead a hybrid team of onshore and offshore testers.
  • Allocate resources effectively across multiple test approaches and workstreams.
  • Ensure team productivity, collaboration, and quality delivery.
  • Define, maintain, and enforce the programme-level Test Strategy, Test Plan, and Test Approach.
  • Ensure transparency and consistency of testing activities across the programme.
  • Identify, manage, and escalate testing risks and issues in a timely manner.
  • Own and manage the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) for the programme.
  • Plan, control, and execute testing activities to ensure full test coverage.
  • Provide regular, accurate reporting on testing progress to programme stakeholders.
  • Work closely with workstream leads, business teams, SMEs, and third-party vendors.
  • Ensure strict adherence to internal testing governance and best practices.
  • Maintain comprehensive test documentation including plans, execution status, defects, and results.
  • Stay current with market trends and testing innovations.
  • Provide technical input into automation strategies and tooling.
  • Support and enhance automation coverage where appropriate.

Key Skills:

  • 10+ years of hands-on testing experience across System Testing, Functional Testing, SIT, UAT, API Testing, Smoke Testing, and Data-driven Testing.
  • Proven experience managing testing for large programmes.
  • Strong experience leading and reporting on test teams.
  • UAT Management experience.
  • Experience working in Agile environments.
  • Exposure to automation frameworks.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of the Software Testing Lifecycle (STLC).
  • Ability to assess, interpret, and report test results.
