Summary: This role is for an experienced Project Manager to lead high-value capital projects focused on factory automation and robotic systems integration within a major international group's manufacturing facility. The position is a fixed-term contract lasting 18-24 months, requiring oversight of multiple turnkey automation projects to ensure timely and budget-compliant execution. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in industrial control systems and automation, particularly within the automotive sector. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the management of designated projects, delivering agreed objectives including revenue, timing, and deliverables.
  • Support initial feasibility reviews, validation of quotations, and development of project budgets and timing for plant-based activities.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, timescales, and budgets leading to successful completion and buy-off.
  • Follow the business process to realize program delivery and identify areas of change to work scope and control via change management process.

Key Skills:

  • Significant experience in a Programme Manager or Project Manager capacity within industrial control systems & automation, robotic application, or automotive OEM facilities.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams delivering high-value turnkey projects.
  • Knowledge of complex manufacturing automation - PLC / HMI control systems, MES, AGV/AMR robotic and tooling utilized in automotive/high volume manufacturing processes.
  • Analytical with good judgment, commercial business sense, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Structured worker with good time management and project management ability.
  • Able to travel to Europe on occasion.

Detailed Description From Employer:

Part of a major international group, this organisation is investing significantly upgrades in their modern manufacturing facility and is seeking to hire an experienced Project Manager for a fixed term contract duration to lead a number of high value capital projects, specifically additional upgrades to factory automation & robotic systems integration.

Interim Programme Manager – Automotive CapEx

Salary: £80-90000 (18-24 month FTC)

Location: West Midlands (commutable from Wolverhampton, Bridgnorth, Stafford, Walsall, Telford, Shrewsbury areas)

As a Senior Programme Manager you will be responsible for overseeing successful execution of multiple turnkey automation projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget and to customers technical specification.

Duties:

  • Lead the management of designated projects, delivering agreed objectives including revenue, timing and deliverables, taking a project from conception to completion and escalate issues as they arise
  • Support initial feasibility reviews, validation of quotations and development of project budgets and timing for plant based activities.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, timescales & budgets leading to successful completion and buy off
  • Follow the business process to realise programme delivery and identify areas of change to work scope and control via change management process.

Experience:

You will already have significant experience in a Programme Manager or Project Manager capacity gained within the industrial control systems & automation, robotic application or automotive OEM facilities.

  • Proven ability to lead and motivate cross functional teams delivering high value turnkey projects
  • Setting up full development plans from concept to production with associated gateways/ KPI trackers, maintenance of timing and cost plans
  • Knowledge of complex manufacturing automation - PLC / HMI control systems, MES, AGV/ AMR robotic and tooling utilised in automotive / high volume manufacturing processes such as BIW welded assemblies, product assembly & test, powertrain assembly, EV/ battery tray build etc
  • Analytical with good judgement, commercial business sense and problem solving skills
  • Relation builder with good communications skills with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Structured worker with good time management and project management ability
  • Able to travel to Europe on occasion.
