Working in the NHS Cancer Programme, that s exactly what you ll do.Working in the NHS Cancer Programme, you will set the agenda for cancer services in England. Working with patients, clinicians, charities and across the public sector, our aim is to reduce preventable cancers, diagnose cancer earlier, increase survival and improve the quality of life and experience for cancer patients. We develop national policy and strategy, and work with our Cancer Alliances across the country to transform services for patients.This is an exciting time for the NHS Cancer Programme. We are working towards diagnosing 75% of cancers at stage 1 or 2 by 2028, and consequently helping 55,000 more people survive for at least five years after their cancer diagnosis.You will work on the Lung Cancer Screening programme, which aims to diagnose lung cancer early. Currently, without an asymptomatic screening, only 28% of lung cancers are diagnosed at stage one or two one of the top worst performing cancers in England. This is changing, and over 4,000 cancers have now been diagnosed through the TLHC programme in pilot sites (75% at stage one or two). The National Screening Committee has recommended targeted lung cancer screening is rolled out nationally and this role will support continued delivery and expansion.Are you the right person for the job?We are looking for a Programme Manager who can commit to this full time post.The national Lung Cancer Screening programme is an exciting, high profile and high impact programme of work that will require a wide range of project, commercial, financial and stakeholder management skills, in helping to fully establish Europe s first national targeted lung cancer screening programme.This role is critical to support scaling up of the Targeted Lung Health Check programme across the country, and to support Cancer Alliances to address challenges related to reaching additional populations. A portfolio of work will be agreed with the successful postholder. This may include supporting CT capacity development, workforce plans, national ICT, funding reviews, Quality Assurance, data reporting etc. The role will support national governance arrangements, assuring project and programme delivery, as well as supporting oversight of the ongoing national programme evaluation.
