Programme Manager 12-month contract based within a Higher Education establishment in Derby Competitive day rate available (inside scope of IR35) and hybrid working policy

Hays are recruiting an experienced Programme Manager to join a leading Higher Education establishment on a 12-month contract. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in a major transformation programme, providing programme-wide leadership, governance and oversight across a portfolio of complex change initiatives.

Working with senior stakeholders across academic and professional services functions, you will coordinate multiple interdependent projects, ensuring successful delivery against strategic objectives, programme outcomes and benefits realisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide programme-wide coordination, governance and oversight across a large-scale transformation programme.
  • Maintain visibility of programme progress, risks, issues, dependencies, resources and benefits.
  • Develop and manage integrated programme plans, delivery roadmaps and reporting frameworks.
  • Support programme boards and senior leadership teams with high-quality reporting, analysis and recommendations.
  • Manage programme-level risks, issues and dependencies, ensuring timely escalation and resolution.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement across multiple business areas and project workstreams.
  • Drive benefits realisation activities and ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Support organisational change, business readiness and adoption activities across the programme life cycle.

In order to apply, you must have the following skills and experience:

  • Significant experience managing complex programmes comprising multiple interdependent projects.
  • A strong track record of delivering large-scale organisational change and transformation initiatives.
  • Excellent programme governance, risk management and stakeholder engagement experience.
  • Experience working with executive-level stakeholders and governance boards.
  • Strong benefits realisation and dependency management expertise.
  • Professional programme and project management qualifications such as MSP, PRINCE2, APM PMQ, PMP or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication, analytical and leadership skills.
  • Higher Education experience in highly desirable.
