Summary: The role of Technical Portfolio Manager involves overseeing the governance, coordination, and delivery of a complex technical portfolio within a leading global aviation company on a fixed-term basis. The successful candidate will ensure alignment of projects with business priorities and regulatory standards while engaging with senior stakeholders. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a portfolio of technical projects across the aviation business, ensuring delivery within agreed scope, time, budget, and quality parameters.
  • Provide portfolio-level governance, ensuring all projects adhere to established frameworks, standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Oversee project pipeline management, prioritisation, and resource allocation in line with strategic objectives.
  • Identify and manage interdependencies across multiple programmes and projects.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders (CxO, Directors, Technical Leads) to align technical initiatives with business strategy.
  • Monitor risks, issues, and opportunities across the portfolio, ensuring proactive mitigation and resolution.
  • Produce high-quality reporting and insights for senior leadership, ensuring transparency on progress, challenges, and outcomes.
  • Support continuous improvement of portfolio management processes, governance, and tooling.
  • Ensure compliance with aviation industry standards, cybersecurity protocols, and regulatory requirements.

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience as a Portfolio Manager, Programme Manager, or Senior Project Manager in large-scale, complex technical environments.
  • Strong background in technical programmes, ideally in aviation, aerospace, or similarly regulated industries.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with proven ability to engage senior executives and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong governance, reporting, and analytical skills.
  • Expertise in portfolio management methodologies, frameworks, and tools (eg, MSP, MoP, P3O, PMO tooling).
  • Demonstrable experience managing budgets, risks, and interdependencies across multiple projects.
  • Strong knowledge of IT/technical domains such as infrastructure, digital transformation, or systems integration.
