Summary: The Product Safety Engineer role involves managing hazards and risks associated with product safety, contributing to the development of hazard logs, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. The position requires collaboration with various teams to support safety assessments and facilitate safety-related meetings. This is a hybrid role, requiring one day per week on-site in Glasgow, and is offered as an initial 12-month contract. The role is classified as inside IR35 due to the umbrella company arrangement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide support to the function with the management of the hazards, risks and associated mitigations and contribute to the development of the hazard log and the maturity of information contained within.
- Responsible for product safety assessment against major subsystems or key complex technologies.
- Verify the quality of submissions to the Hazard Log.
- Produce monthly statistics on the contents of the Hazard Log.
- Organise and facilitate HAZIDs and review meetings and contribute to other HAZIDs when required.
- Work with the teams and embedded Safety Engineers in collating adequate PS related evidence to support the safety case and acceptance via the Requirements and Acceptance Team.
Key Skills:
- Knowledge of safety management processes and techniques.
- Experience of working in more than one phase of the Life Cycle Management (LCM) framework, with sufficient experience of the total LCM to enable a good understanding of adjacent phases and through life engineering issues.
- Awareness of customer (Ship/ System Safety) standards such as DSA-02, JSP430, Stan 00-56, MilStn 882E, BS EN 61508.
- Familiar with the Product Safety Management Framework.
