Summary: The role of Product Owner involves leading the development of a cloud-based data platform with a focus on AWS and Databricks. The successful candidate will translate strategic business goals into actionable product outcomes and manage the product roadmap. This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure the platform meets scalability, security, and cost-efficiency standards. Active SC or BPSS clearance is required for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and manage the product vision, roadmap, and backlog for data platform capabilities on AWS and Databricks
- Work closely with data engineers, architects, analysts, and stakeholders to define and prioritise features and enhancements
- Translate business requirements into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical requirements
- Act as the primary point of contact for data platform stakeholders across the organisation
- Ensure data products are scalable, secure, cost-efficient, and aligned with best practices
- Drive adoption and value realisation of Databricks (eg data engineering, analytics, ML use cases)
- Collaborate with engineering teams to plan sprints, manage dependencies, and remove blockers
- Balance short-term delivery with long-term platform strategy
- Monitor platform usage, performance, and ROI, and continuously optimise based on feedback
- Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and regulatory requirements
Key Skills:
- Proven experience as a Product Owner (or Product Manager with strong delivery focus) in data or platform teams
- Strong hands-on understanding of AWS services, particularly those used in data platforms (eg S3, Glue, Redshift, Lambda, IAM)
- Solid experience with Databricks, including data engineering and analytics use cases
- Familiarity with modern data architectures (lakehouse, data lakes, streaming, batch processing)
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong prioritisation and decision-making skills
- Comfortable working with cross-functional teams in complex environments

Required Skills & Experience

Desirable (Nice to Have)

Background in SQL, Python, or similar (not required to code, but must be data-literate)
Experience managing cloud cost optimisation initiatives
Databricks or AWS certifications
