Summary: The role of Product Owner for the UK Infrastructure Programme involves leading the development of high-quality digital products within a mature SAFe environment. The position requires balancing customer needs with stakeholder requirements while ensuring effective delivery and continuous value flow. The successful candidate will act as the voice of the customer and guide solution design to maximize satisfaction and long-term value. This is a hybrid role based in Warwick, requiring an English national eligible for BPSS clearance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deeply understanding customer needs, both internal and external, and continuously exploring how products, platforms, systems, or APIs are used
- Balancing customer needs with those of stakeholders such as Business Owners, Lean Portfolio Management, and System Architects
- Identifying key problems using design thinking and focusing on the most valuable jobs to be done
- Guiding solution design through Lean UX to maximise customer satisfaction and long-term value
- Creating and shaping well-formed user stories aligned to product strategy, supporting continuous value flow
- Prioritising backlog items based on cost of delay and clearly communicating priorities
- Accepting stories against defined acceptance criteria and the Definition of Done to ensure built-in quality
- Supporting the Architectural Runway in collaboration with System Architects
- Facilitating story elaboration, managing dependencies, and improving team learning and velocity
- Actively participating in team and ART events to maintain cadence and alignment
- Defining and validating benefit hypotheses with Product Management
- Gathering and sharing feedback through reviews, demos, telemetry, and stakeholder engagement
- Continuously evolving product vision, strategy, and design based on feedback and outcomes
Key Skills:
- Proven Product Owner experience within digital product environments
- Strong delivery focus with experience leading product development end to end
- SAFe trained or certified
- Comfortable working with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams
- Strong understanding of modern digital best practices and Lean-Agile delivery
