We’re reinventing payments. In less than four years, Dojo disrupted the market to become the largest and most loved acquirer in the UK. Our payments infrastructure, purpose-built for in-person commerce, is game changing. Now, over 150,000 customers across four countries choose to transact billions with us every year. But we’re just getting started. Our people are the driving force behind our success. They are our greatest investment and our ultimate competitive advantage. We hire exceptional people and give them the autonomy, trust, and ownership to thrive. The results take care of themselves.
The Role... As a Product Designer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the user experience of our next-generation Platforms. You will be the design authority for complex, domain-driven workflows that power retail and hospitality businesses. Our platforms are built on a sophisticated Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and Event-Driven Architectures. We are looking for a designer who thrives in complexity, capable of translating intricate backend logic into intuitive, seamless, and beautiful interfaces for merchants and staff. You will work closely with Product Managers and Engineers to prepare detailed specifications for refinement and build, ensuring our product is not just functional but a joy to use.
What You Will Do... Lead Design Strategy: Take ownership of the end-to-end design process for key Bounded Contexts such as Sales, Orders, Payments, and Analytics. You will move projects from conceptualization to high-fidelity prototyping. Translate Complexity to Simplicity: distinctively visualize complex data relationships and workflows inherent in a DDD-based system. You will design for clarity, efficiency, and error prevention in high-paced retail environments. Prepare for Refinement & Build: Produce comprehensive design artifacts (user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes) that are ready for engineering refinement. You will ensure all edge cases are considered and documented. Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner deeply with Product Managers to understand business requirements (Epics/Stories) and with Engineers to understand technical constraints and opportunities. Develop & Maintain Design System: Contribute to and evolve our design system to ensure consistency across all modules (Upstream, Core, Downstream) and touchpoints. User Research & Validation: Conduct user research and usability testing to validate design decisions and iterate based on feedback from real-world usage in retail and hospitality settings. Mentor & Elevate: As a senior individual contributor, you will set the bar for design quality and help mentor more junior team members, fostering a culture of design excellence.
What You Will Bring... Experience: 5-7+ years of experience in product design, with a strong portfolio showcasing complex enterprise, B2B, or SaaS applications. Experience with face-to-face payment systems is a significant plus. System Thinking: A demonstrated ability to understand and design for complex systems. You are comfortable working with technical concepts (like Domain-Driven Design boundaries) and can map them to user-centric workflows. Mastery of Craft: Expert proficiency in modern design tools (Figma is preferred). You have a sharp eye for typography, layout, color, and interaction design. Technical Literacy: You understand how software is built. You can communicate effectively with developers and understand the implications of your design decisions on the backend and frontend architecture. Prototyping Skills: Ability to build interactive prototypes that simulate real-world behavior to test hypotheses and communicate interactions clearly to developers. Autonomy & Drive: You are a self-starter who can navigate ambiguity. You don't just wait for tickets; you help define the solution. Communication: Excellent storytelling and communication skills. You can articulate the "why" behind your design decisions to stakeholders at all levels.
