Summary: The Procurement Specialist role focuses on managing procurement and contract activities for onshore wind projects in the UK and Irish markets. This position requires collaboration with development and construction teams to ensure effective procurement solutions that align with project goals. The role is hybrid, allowing for remote work with occasional office visits in London, Edinburgh, Durham, or Newcastle. The successful candidate will be responsible for supplier negotiations, contract management, and building strong supplier relationships to support the transition to a Net Zero future.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Initiating and implementing procurement plans with key internal stakeholders.
  • Identifying, selecting, and prequalifying suppliers for projects.
  • Preparing and managing formal and informal RfQs.
  • Analysing and evaluating tender responses.
  • Leading or supporting contract negotiations with suppliers (£50K-£200M).
  • Preparing governance documentation and contributing to financial approval processes.
  • Managing contracts including reporting, processing payment applications, and handling disputes.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key suppliers.
  • Monitoring supply market trends to inform risk mitigation strategies.

Key Skills:

  • Experience in large-scale projects within a project team environment.
  • Background in commercial management, quantity surveying, or procurement.
  • Track record in capital-intensive industries such as utilities, oil & gas, mining, or defence.
  • Proven success in supplier negotiations and tender processes.
  • Strong understanding of procurement and contract management principles.
  • Solid negotiation and influencing skills with knowledge of contract law.
  • Desirable: Experience in renewable energy projects, MCIPS or RICS qualified, degree in quantity surveying or related discipline.

We're seeking a Procurement Specialist to play a key role in supporting the growth of renewable energy by managing procurement and contract activities across onshore wind projects in the UK and Irish markets. Reporting to the Procurement and Contracts Manager, you'll work closely with development and construction teams to deliver effective procurement solutions aligned with project goals and business requirements.

What You'll Be Doing

Based at one of our UK office locations, your responsibilities will include:

  • Initiating and implementing procurement plans, with engagement and support from key internal stakeholders
  • Identifying, selecting, and prequalifying suppliers for upcoming projects and initiatives
  • Preparing and managing formal and informal RfQs to align supply chain capabilities with project opportunities
  • Analysing and evaluating tender responses
  • Leading or supporting contract negotiations with suppliers (£50K-£200M), ensuring value for money, risk management, and commercial efficiency
  • Preparing governance documentation and contributing to financial approval processes
  • Managing contracts including reporting, processing payment applications and invoices, handling variations, claims, disputes, and final accounts
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key suppliers to drive performance and foster a partnership-based approach
  • Monitoring supply market trends and developments to inform risk mitigation strategies and competitive analysis

What You'll Need to Succeed

You'll be a motivated and proactive professional, confident in managing procurement activities in line with internal policies and procedures. A collaborative approach, strong commercial acumen, and an eye for detail are essential.

You will bring:

  • Experience supporting large-scale projects within a project team environment, ideally with a background in commercial management, quantity surveying, or procurement
  • A track record within capital-intensive industries such as utilities, oil & gas, mining, or defence
  • Proven success in supplier negotiations and tender processes
  • Strong understanding of procurement and contract management principles
  • Solid negotiation and influencing skills with working knowledge of contract law

Desirable:

  • Prior experience in renewable energy projects, particularly onshore wind
  • MCIPS or RICS qualified (or working towards full membership)
  • Degree in quantity surveying, procurement, or a related business discipline
