Summary: The Project Procurement Director role is a 12-month fixed-term contract based in Chester, focusing on strategic and operational procurement activities. The position requires managing end-to-end procurement processes, including tendering and supplier management, to ensure cost-effective operations. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in procurement within engineering fields and will be responsible for budget management and supplier negotiations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end procurement, including tendering, sourcing, and supplier/contract management
- Identify and implement measures to reduce the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)
- Analyse supplier offers and select the most appropriate purchasing goals
- Conduct negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable bids
- Confirm and manage letters of agreement and orders within designated limits
- Coordinate logistics for shipping, customs, and insurance operations
- Collaborate closely with the Head Office Procurement department
- Monitor supply market trends, risks, and opportunities
- Oversee warehouse activities, including consumables, goods receipt, and transfers
Key Skills:
- MCIPS qualification
- Experience working with Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields
- Experience with ERP software, preferably SAP
- Strong document drafting and analysis skills
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Proven experience in stakeholder and supplier management
- Experience managing procurement budgets of £35m
