Summary: The role of Category Officer involves managing procurement and contracts within the Children’s Services sector of a Council in the South Midlands. This is a full-time, 5-month temporary position with a hybrid working model requiring office presence once a month. The ideal candidate should have relevant experience in Children’s Services and will be responsible for supporting procurement decision-making and maintaining effective relationships across the Council. The position is set to commence in May and offers a competitive hourly rate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertaking full delivery of key procurement and contracts management within Children’s Services.
- Supporting effective decision making in relation to the procurement of goods and services.
- Building effective working relationships, relating to level 2 category spend across the Council.
- Working with Commissioners and Officers across the Council to deliver procurement and contract management activities specific to level 2 spend.
- Using eTendering systems and procurement planning system to ensure procurement pipeline, tender management, and contracts records are effectively up-to-date.
Key Skills:
- Experience in Children’s Services category.
- MCIPS level 4 is desired.
- Strong procurement and contract management skills.
- Ability to build effective working relationships.
- Proficiency in using eTendering and procurement planning systems.
