As part of the Rugby Football Union s new Community Game Future (CGF) strategy this role will provide procurement support to our community clubs from a national, regional and local perspective. This is to help drive a reduction in club operating costs and support the ongoing identification of potential opportunities to improve the financial operation and management of the club network.The Community Procurement Manager is a key member of the team and provides guidance and mentoring across the community game to ensure that community clubs and Constituent Bodies are operating as efficiently as possible. The role holder will act as a subject matter expert and develop collaborative relationships and networks to provide technical support and guidance to our key stakeholders.Some key responsibilities include:Leading and developing a range of Procurement projects to support and enhance community clubs from a local, regional and national perspective and establishing Return on Investment metrics across the differing organisations and frameworks.Providing specialist advice and guidance in setting up and developing frameworks and procurement advice to support for the community game focusing on clubs and Constituent Bodies.Identifying opportunities to increase % spend under control through the RFU Purchasing System, and the development of a robust Procurement Pipeline which can be adopted by local community clubs.Responsible for developing the supplier base and creating a framework of preferred suppliers across identified spend categories working at a National Regional and local basis within the community game.Communicating Procurement Policy and supporting the community game in its adoption and understanding and developing appropriate frameworks.Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers and ensure robust contracts are established and subsequently adhered to either at local, regional or national level.Actively collaborate with colleagues to contribute to the development and delivery of the current strategic, business and operational plans.Act as an ambassador for, and promote the best interests of the RFU, including the promotion of our culture and core values This Rose Means Everyone: Put The Team First, Shape The Future, Respect Each Other.Undertake other duties as may be required from time to time as are consistent with the responsibilities of the post and the needs of the organisation.Qualifications, Skills & Experience:The skills and attributes outlined in this description are not exhaustive and we welcome candidates who can bring different relevant experiences to the role.Essential:Significant demonstrable buying and supply chain experience (with some ideally in a voluntary sector driven environment).Experience of managing or developing spend categoriesExperience in Purchasing Systems; ideally OracleExperience of measuring impact (ROI) of differing interventions and metricsStrong team player: collaborative in style, actively seeks partnership with colleagues and external stakeholders to achieve shared results.Strong intellect as well as ability to communicate at all levels, support change initiatives and work cross functionally and with key external stakeholders in the community game.Able to balance multiple priorities against exacting deadlines and remain focused.Demonstrates initiative and self-motivation but also able to follow an agreed way of working.Sound commercial judgement and decision-making capability.Ability to provide credibility in a volunteer environment and gain buy in from volunteer leaders of community rugby clubs.Committed to embodying the ethos our culture by using our three core values Put The Team First, Shape The Future, Respect Each Other to guide your day-to-day decisions, actions and interactions.Committed to actively contributing and building an inclusive culture in your role and day to day behaviours.Desirable:Strong facilitation skills and ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences.A good understanding of how the voluntary sports club sector operates from a business and people operation.Additional Information:Personal circumstances must allow the candidate to work extended hours on occasion during times of peak activity including evenings and weekends and required to travel across the country.We want you to have every opportunity to demonstrate your skills, ability and potential.
